We get it, recycling can get a little confusing…
FAQ's
Have questions about recycling electronics or managing retired IT assets? Below are answers to the most common questions about our services, processes, and certifications. If you don’t see your question here, our knowledgeable team is always available to help.
How do I schedule an e-Waste pickup for my company?
You are welcome to call or e-mail us to schedule an appointment for equipment pickup. There is also a submission form in the “Contact” tab of our website.
Does my company need to palletize equipment before it can be picked up?
No. Your equipment does not need to be palletized in advance. Evolution E-Cycling’s logistics team can remove equipment directly from your office or data center and provide full pack-and-wrap services for secure transport.
Can my company receive value for retired IT assets?
Sometimes, yes. While we do not purchase equipment from consumers, Evolution E-Cycling frequently buys retired IT assets from corporate customers when devices still have resale value. An equipment list is required to evaluate eligibility for value recovery.
Does Evolution E-Cycling accept batteries?
Yes, we do accept batteries. Cell phone, laptop, UPS, and car batteries are free of charge! However, alkaline, other single use batteries, power tool, or hazardous chemistry types are subject to fees. Typical fees range from $.50 to $4.00/lbs. based on the chemistry.
Does Evolution E-Cycling recycle light bulbs?
No, we currently do not accept light bulbs for recycling.
As a consumer can I drop off electronic waste to be recycled?
Consumers may drop off retired electronics at our South Side location (2235 Mary St.) and many Guardian Storage locations for your convenience. (Note: Guardian Storage is no longer accepting televisions or CRT monitors. These will now need to be dropped off at our Mary St. headquarters in Pittsburgh’s South Side.)
Does Evolution E-Cycling accept televisions for recycling?
Yes, we do accept televisions for recycling, but only at our South Side headquarters (2235 Mary St.), Guardian Storage no longer allows television or CRT monitor drop-offs. Due to televisions having a negative commodity value, recycling fees apply to all televisions and CRT monitors.
Will my hard drive get destroyed?
Yes, all data devices are destroyed as a matter of course, whether it be physically or logically. If you would like a certificate of destruction for your data containing devices, please contact one of our representatives to make an appointment.
Does Evolution E-Cycling participate in municipal e-waste collection events?
Evolution E-Cycling will be happy to pick up and process materials collected by municipalities if they have been properly sorted and palletized. We do not organize or staff collection events offered by municipalities.
