Printer, Scanner, and Faxes

Like many types of electronic equipment, printers can contain harmful materials and metals, including flame retardants. When improperly discarded, the overcrowded landfills cause soil and water contamination.

Scanners contain elements of copper, aluminum, nickel, and zinc. These materials can be recovered and repurposed for other products. Non-recycled scanners that degrade in a landfill lead to air and water pollution.

Fax machines are made with toxic metals that are hazardous to the environment if not appropriately processed. If thrown away they, too, will lead to environmental pollution.
